Re: [RC] Owhyee Detailed Results - Barbara McCraryI'm finding all this discussion about the detailed statistics for the Owyhee 100 quite interesting. We actually have been printing out results like this for nearly 25 years on Swanton Pacific. It is quite easy to do with a good database program. I just take the stats from the rider card and enter them into appropriate fields on the database, then print out a report. I have not printed the pulse details, but I have printed the arrival time and recovery time for each horse into each vet check. This way, the rider can assess how long it took his horse to recover to criteria and how his horse is recovering at each point, getting better or worse as the ride progresses. Our riders tell us they like these results and use them as a tool for conditioning for better future performance. We mail the results to each rider and to the head vet. I also use these results as a tool for formulating a flow chart for each year. If, one year, the arrival time of the first horse at the first VC is significantly faster than any time before, I take that into consideration when recommending the time for the ride personnel (vets, P&R, timers) to be at their stations. I always ask them to arrive 30 minutes before the first ETA. My decision to do this kind of result report has nothing to do with FEI or any other agency, it's something I decided on as a very interesting "history" of each ride. I personally use it every year as a tool for better ride management.Barbara McCrary, ride mgr.
