[RC] Sporttack side pull - Heidi Vanderbilt

I've had this exact side pull for years and years--since 2000 I think--and use it constantly. I've ridden Tevis in it on my ferocious mare, and thousands of other miles on her and other horses. i absolutely love it! So do the horses. It seems to fit everyone. The bit, if i use one, hangs just right. I can unsnap my reins and lead with it, tie with it, and I use it as a halter. When i travel, it's often the only headstall I bring--no need for a halter!

O ver theyears with all the use I've put it to, I needed repairs once--the aforementioned mare stepped into it, set back and tore a strap or two. Sportack replaced the broken pieces within a couple of days, and I think the charge was under ten dollars.

With a green horse or at the start of a ride, I'd suggest using your bit with it. You can easily take it off at the first VC. I've found the sidepull has enough whoa without causing any damage--no chafes, no rubbed noses. Bending, turning, yielding is easy. I also use it when starting horses under saddle, before bitting them.

I'd recommend it without reservation.

Hope this helps.
