So Cal in
general isn’t particularly selenium deficient if you are feeding the
locally grown hays such as alfalfa or Bermuda.
If you are feeding the grass hays coming down from the PNW or Northern
California; or if your horse is working reasonably hard, ie more than 25-30
miles of riding on average per week, then I would supplement with at least 3 mg
of selenium per day. More if you are seeing any symptoms of deficiency
such as tying up, overly-stiff after a reasonable ride, that sort of thing.

selenium deficient? I know it wasn't in EastTX, but I don't know anything about Southern CA!
