Re: [RC] Mare: barefoot rear and/or laying horses down - Jody Rogers-Buttram

Well, I have and it does work.  I am not sure that this will help this mare.  Didn't read the whole thread on this, just glanced at it, seems that maybe she has something else going on.....but for those that have an "attitude" problem...laying them down in the only thing I do.  I have never seen one it didn't fix.  And your right....they Love you for letting them up.  :))

Jody  and Cash Pony ( who was ALL attitude on all four feet, now stands like a dream, everytime, just glad to be standing up)

As I have said here before,I think barefoot rears are the way to go for many or maybe most horses. As for the behavioral problem,if that's what it is,and for behavioral problems in general,I'm starting to wonder:what about the age old method used the world over,of laying 'em down on the ground for about ten minutes? I think maybe Monte Roberts gave this technique, unfairly,a bad name. Supposedly a petite woman can hold them down easily, they don't struggle, and after you let them up they think you are their best friend, because you let them up.(Is it true that their brain is the size of an egg?)I have never done this technique.
