[RC] Marlene - pedigree - heidi larson

Marlene, my Ash is a *Piefuszok grandson I believe. For a lot of information and even photographs of her relatives, go to where I got Ash, www.willomar.com  They even have videos you can download.  When I first got Ash, Eva Dano did the percentages for me and Ash is 55% polish, 35% russian and the balance CMK.  You can also google the words equine pedigree and you can research her lines through that site, very nice job and you can click on ancestors and even see photos there as well.

Hi Marlene,

Ha ha "sire line mostly polish", I think not. He is totally pure polish! IOW your new mare is half pure polish maybe more depending on the dam lines of her dam.

According to my "The Polish Arabian Horse in North America" written by Neil L. Wood, Cyprin is listed as a pure Polish, and he was foaled in 1971, and is a Bay, number 074412. So, all of his relatives behind him are pure polish, and no other.

Cyprin a bay is of the Pure Polish horse family of the Kohelian-Adjuze he was foaled in 1877 and purchased from the desert for the Babolna Stud in Hungrary.

Cyprin is by the stallion *Cypr, a bay, foaled in 1963, imported by Guthrie in 1963, an out of the mare *Cissa foaled in 1949 a grey, (of the pure polish Mlecha family) . She was imported by Work in 1963, and *Cypr's sire is *Pietuszok (more info below), a bay 1954, imported by Allen in 1973.

*Cissa is of the pure polish horse family of Mlecha which was imported in 1845 from the desert by Count Juliusz Dzieduszycki, this line survived the World Wars through two mare branches only: Fanfara a 1945 chestnut and Lysa foaled in 1915 a chestnut. Lysa left three notable daughters: Mabrucha foaled in 1928 a grey, Safta foaled in 1929 a chestnut, and *Iwonka III foaled in 1936 a chestnut. Safta left a laegacy in racing, and *Iwonka III is the grandam of *Bask and Bandola through Balalajka, and their half sister, the excellent mare *Bachantka (by Wielki Szlem)

The Kohelian-Adjuze line is known for such horses as Priboj, a 1934 chestnut of the Tersk family, Orzel a 1963 bay (by *Cissa), and several of the Brusally horses Brusally Orselost, Brusally Orsalin, Brusally Orselar, and Brusally Orzaborr.

In 1958, the Priboj son *Piefuszok was brought into Poland from Tersk Stud. *Piefuszok left a significant Kuhalian heritage in Poland, however, the most important cross being on the Witraz line. He left 18 excellent daughters. A number of *Pietuszok sons have stood at stud including *Wosk, a Derby winner, and chief sire at Janow, *Orzel a US Nat CH Racehorse, US and CN top 10 stallion and US Nat Ch Side Saddle, and a few others sons. The book notes that the sire line is not represented in Poland today.

Remember, all the "w" words are pronounced as a v. Not as an english w sound, but a v, as in vee. So *Wosk would be pronounced as Vosk.

The dam line is not in the Pure Polish book. She must be something else. She could be part polish, but I would have to have some names other than just hers to verify her lineage further back in her pedigree. If the horse is not totally pure polish it will not be listed in this book. However, the previous relatives of the mare may be. Somewhere somebody crossed a non-pure polish horse, and she was the result.

Hope this helps. Your mare has racing background lines. Performance lines. Not sure on the historical side of the dam lines though. I can not see whom actually owns the mare you have. The book lists history of the lines, not owners, sorry.

Also the Priboj line has sired some show ring contenders through the Selma lines.

See Ya,
Laura T.
