I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who rides horses, especially distance riders, especially men who want to learn what women can REALLY do on horseback, but more importantly in the manner the unknown regions of the heart and of the land can be fronted and conquered.

"Risks" can not always be defined by placing in jeopardy physical well-being, and in that context, I would never say that men take more risks than women.  Physicality is a safe place to which men can retreat when the cerebral and the soulful let us down.  Women, on the other hand, often seem to have to actually "deal" with things.
