[RC] Sitting trot - Sisu West Ranch

Some of us "sit the trot" because we have learned how to do it, but have never learned to post (originally it was "ride like a posting boy " or "ride in the French manner".)

When England switched from gaited horses as usual riding horses to trotting TB's it became the fashion to "ride in the French manner". A "posting boy" was a young boy who rode on one of the horses in a 6 horse hitch on a carraige.

I have never had a horse sore his back from sitting the trot. I also have picked horses with smooth extended trots. I have no evidence that I would or would not be a better endurance rider if I learned to post.
