[RC] Horse Slaughter - endurance horses - Amy Cieri

New Holland in Lancaster, PA does NOT slaughter the horses. They sell them to killers if no one buys them. They are loaded onto appropriate transport vehicles and taken out.

"I think" statements like the previous post by Sherman - Kathy, can cause a lot of trouble for innocent people. I've seen the "bad" cases at New Holland but that's where they're supposed to go. Doesn't mean my horses will go there because I've said this. Would I send a 30 y.o. blind mare through the auction? No. Don't lump me in with a sad experience I've shared with you. Don't think I'm uneducated either. Ahh heck, think what you want.

We slaughter tons of cattle in the manner that the horses are killed, why is it assumed that those killing the horses are significantly less than skilled at the job?

Many level minded people have spoken out on this topic, shared excellent views and have kept the emotion out of the equation. They have brought up good questions too. Wish the world was perfect but sadly, it's not.

Lot's of arabs go through New Holland. In fact to keep it endurance related I'll name a few more from this auction,

BG Aashar - Winner of the Old Dominion 100, June 2005, 205 miles
Traveler - 305 miles

Both horses owned by Mike Marino who can be credited with a good eye for a good horse, no matter their physical condition. Keep it up Mike!
