Re: [RC] advair and weight gain - Tiffany D'Virgilio

You inhale it into your lungs directly onto your bronchial tissues. It's not a "real trick", I'm not sure why you have attitude with me. It's the same with steroids that you put in your nose or cortisone cream. You treat the tissue directly instead of systematically. I have not personally gained weight from advair, when I did gain weight it was from eating too much or sitting too much. It's better for me than going on prednisone and being uncontrolled. That's me, maybe for you it's different. I'm not quite sure why you asked, if you are already so sure about the answer. You are however, incorrect about the way medicines can and do deliver drugs to your system.

"'Prednisone/solumedrol will make you fat. Advair will not." I know that this is standard medical opinion. I beleive that is entirely false. I have been on advair for 12 years. How an inhaled steroid that enters your lungs can go "straight to the organ you need it to" would be a real trick. The fda and glaxo Klien just agreed that Glaxo (who makes advair) would start warning phsycians would be told to only proscribe advair as a last resort to asthmatics who did not have another way to treat their asthma due to complications from advair. ( I stipulate that not all those complications, or even the most important ones were weight gain)
If you google "weight gain" + "advair" look and see how many people are discussing this very issue world wide.
Lastly, the weight gain, according to my naturaopath is caused by damage to the adrenal cone. Advair very clearly states on its warnings that it can cause suppression to your adrenal system.
When something supresses your hormonal system isnt it reasonable that the suppression would cause some effect in a person?
