[RC] Thyroid supplement/Drug policy - cynthia hamberg

Valerie,
I hope you're not talking about Phoenix--you two are at the top of the LD
leader's list for ride mileage nationally (April, 2006, EN)! Anyway, to be
sure, go to our www.aerc.org site and click on "Vets" at the far right of the
top tool bar. It
will let you upload a pdf "Drug Policy" file. If you can't find it in there, I
would
email one of the listed vets directly (same column). Barney Fleming, DVM was
really helpful
when I was first researching "yucca." Yucca is now listed as a forbidden
substance
because it masks other agents, and may also act as an anti-inflammatory in
higher dosages. Anyway, I hope your horse is doing well with the meds...And, I
really,
really hope that this is not going to end your endurance career with him.
Finally,
Valerie made an enormously valid point--when you board with others, let them
know if their
horse isn't appearing normal.
Take Care,
Cindy Hamberg
