[RC] Braiding Manes - rides2far

Not sure why yours doesn't sweat under the mane unless it does have to do
with humidity. Mine sweat under the mane (when the other side is dry)
just standing in the shed in the summer. I know that when my hair is
long I can't bear to have it loose when it's warm out. I was the queen of
the pony tail holders...always kept spares.

What difference does it make if it
is a training ride or not? And besides, a French braid is better
for getting the hair out of the way of the hands :).

I can make a nice tight French Braid when my horse's head is up, but
when he puts it down to eat it doesn't stay put, it pulls some of it out,
and sponging rats it up. In no time it's a bunch of frizz and pulling out
of the braid. I do sponge a lot more than most though. I like about 7
fairly fat braids. If I'm lazy, maybe 3 or 4. In competition I even
braided his forelock and doubled it under. I kept the full mane on
Kaboot because he's got a massive forelock that reaches way down his face
and pulls off the unicorn look really well.

Lately I'm very fond of the 4" pulled mane look (though I really just saw
it off with a hoof knife). It's neat, cool, good to grab and doesn't get
tangled in my reins. (Kaboot's French Braid was partly to avoid tangled
rein runaways).

P.S. The answer to your riddle sounded a lot more like a Bruce Weary
moaner than a favorite of Kat the logical. :-)
