Re: [RC] Girthing vs Cinching - Beverley H. Kane, MD

Sharon - Thanks for the reply. Jody also mentioned the elastic ends (duh!
that's why the girths for my old saddle worked so well) and directed me to
Running Bear Tack http://www.runningbear.com/ It looks like they sell
girths, inc my Montana Cincha (that has roller buckles), customized w/ their
own elastic. Maybe I can send them my girth to elasticize.

I assume you're thinking of tying a cinch knot, eliminating the "where's the
next hole" problem? I tried that but the knot was under my leg.

Do you have elastic ends on your girth? Does it have "roller buckles"?
Both of those features make English girths SOOO much easier.

I decided I really dislike English girths due to the post-office function
holes--you have to be in one hole or the other, nothing in between. This has
especially been an issue w/ my new Barefoot Cheyenne + Equipedic + mohair
dressage girth. My arms and hands don't seem to be strong enough (or more
likely, get leverage enough from my short height) to get to that next hole
up which is, at any rate, always a bit too tight.

I'm thinking I'd like to convert to a Western style cinch. Thoughts?

Thanks.

Beverley
