[RC] 25 mile rides - Sisu West Ranch

I just checked the AERC records. I could not find your AERC record. This suggests to me that you have not done any endurance rides.

If you have not participated in AERC rides, it is hard for you to understand the concerns of experienced endurance riders relating to short rides, billed as "races".

We have all seen horses injuried by being ridden to fast by inexperienced people. Usually the vets are able to pull the horse before fatal harm is done, but not always.

My suggestion is that if you want to have a short ride to introduce novice Shagya owners to distance riding, you do it as a CTR (competitive trail ride). . NATRC is the only national organization, but there are other regional organizations (like UMECRA) who have rules etc. for CTR. The controled pace (speed) of CTR allows a competition that is much safer for the novice ridden horse.
