My feeling is that 25 miles is not enough distance to test the great talent and capabilities of the Shagyas. If the two you have mentioned as winning Tevis and the World can do so at the 100 mile distance, your National Ride should be at least 50 miles.

Very simple, Angie, WE HAVE TO BEGIN SOMEWHERE! For many years, now, the Shagya bred horse has not been promoted extensively,
here in the U.S. Also there are probably only about 30-40 horses that would be eligible for this ride. This breed deserves to be recognized, as anyone who owns one will testify, but the numbers are very small compared to the purebred Arabian or any of the other breeds.
