Re: [RC] Shoot the Clones - NOT! - Barbara McCrary

Not only are many breeds of modern dogs incapable of hunting, many of the breeds are incapable of reproducing without medical intervention.  I have a niece who is a dog expert, and she says many of the breeds require C-sections in order to whelp.  Sheeeesh!

We have been doing exactly that to every plant and animal we raise for the last 5000+ years.  This is just a new way to do the old thing.

Think about it.  Maize (Indian corn) is so changed from its ancestors that it can't breed on by itself (the kernels are to tightly stuck to the  cob to disperse among other things), in fact the wild ancestor was unknown until a few years ago.  Look at dogs.  Most toy dog breeds are totally incapable of hunting (too small, bad teeth etc)  Domestic sheep, do not shed the wool (which originally was an undercoat), so if not sheared die from infection in the dense wool, if not from stupidity.  There are no wild herds of domestic sheep.

As much as some would like, the Genie will not go back into the bottle.  This holds for all human discoveries.
