Fibrinogen can be increased in many human illnesses, but it's usually just seen as an incidental finding; it isn't tested for to determine inflammation. Forgot to address this part of your post in my previous one, Terre. Yes, we use fibrinogen as a diagnostic tool in horses a lot.
