[RC] Making your own yogurt - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I make my own yogurt - it's cheaper than store bought.
This is the recipe I got from friends from India who use yogurt with every meal
to cool down the "heat" of their curries, etc.

Heat to boiling 1/2 gallon any type milk you want (whole, 2%, skim...)
Pour into a glass bowl or ceramic container and let cool to lukewarm
Add a teaspoon of ACTIVE LIVE CULTURE yogurt that you bought (you can add more,
and it will have more "bite")
Stir together, wrap container with a towel to keep it warm
Place in your oven overnight.
I have a electric oven, so will warm up the oven first NOT too
hot or the heat will kill the culture
The pilot light of a gas oven will create enough warmth.

The active, live culture divides and multiplies overnight, and creates the
yogurt. Place in fridge the next day, covered with Saran Wrap to keep "film"
from developing on top.
Then, scoop out about a tablespoon or so to keep as your next "starter" and you
don't have to buy from the store again!

My friends eat it plain like that mixed with or on top of the
spicy foods. My family adds sugar and fruit.
