[RC] Fever killing the virus - Mike and Laurie Hilyard

The theory is that the virus is adapted to live at the body temp normally found in the host - for humans, 97-99, for horses - 98-100?  If your temp goes up to 100, it is harder for the virus to reproduce, but it does jump start your immune system, which makes more white blood cells to fight infection.  The problem is that when the fever gets too high, the immune stystem "boost" goes away, and you start to dehydrate which causes a whole 'nother cascade of bad things.  Glad that physiology class was good for something.
