[RC] Clipping question for those of you in COLD climates. - Sharon Levasseur

I'm in Maine. So far my horse is unclipped because he's pasture-boarded, but
he's having a harder and harder time of it during our rides now that it's
starting to warm up. I know I'll have to clip him before our first ride at the
end of April... and I'm beginning to think I can't wait that long.

What I need to know is this. How drastic can I clip him and still NOT have to
blanket except on the coldest nights? I'm using this site as a guide for what
to call the various types of clips... good descriptions here...:
http://www.peasridge.co.uk/clipper-advice/clippers-clipping-advice-horses-types-of-horse-clips.shtml

I only need replies from folks who are familiar with cold climates like Maine...
daytime temps at this time of year are 20-45, night temps can still get down
near 0 on a real bad night. Been real windy lately too.

Thanks,
-Sharon L.
