In Pennsylvania, it must be clearly written in the boarding contract that a
horse will be seized for unpaid board payment. The PA Law states we can
repossess after 60 days. We have to send a registered letter on day 45 stating
the outstanding bill balance (in detail) and clearly stating that the horse
will be siezed. Upon seizure, we have to sell the horse through a public sale.
Any monies collected from that sale above and beyond what is owed must be paid
to the owner within 10 days of the sale.
