Re: [RC] Men only - Diane Trefethen

Hi Randy,

Expectorate, micturate and micturition are all listed as primary words in Webster's New World Dictionary of the American Language, Second College Edition. This volume is just a snick more than 2" thick. My version is Copyright 1980, 10th printing... old yes, but for anything not related to the Internet, more than adequate. Besides, for the newer stuff you can Google.

I wonder why "micturate" has the suffix "-ate" which is the ending used for words derived from 1st conjugation Latin verbs when the derivation of the word is "micturire", a 4th conjugation verb.

Are you beginning to wish you'd never asked?? <bg>

Expectoration? micturation? I can't find those in any dictionary. Should I
just go on without asking directions or definitions?

Randy
