the first news of the demise of a Maktoumemanates from Australia I initially 
thought this must be HE Sheikh Mohamed Maktoum,the Defence Minister and 
recent Open European Endurance champion and I went weak in the knees as 
endurance for the above 'fifties' is really 'brinkmanship and it has really 
been a long time since I visit the good doctor to check the 'old' 
ticker.Especially in Australia,thinking this could well be in the context of 
an endurance ride.As this turned out he was HE Sheikh Rashid Al Maktoum,the 
Emir and Prime Minister of Dubai,the elder brother,a horse lover par 
excellent,great contributor to equine racing across the globe.Still good to 
be reminded for all of us above 'this age of consent' to have our yearly 
'threadmill' examination.Not an expensive procedure and can be done even at 
the first cardiological office visit.No medical test are 100 % perfect but 
this my friends is value for money.
May his soul be placed amongst the blessed.
