Re: [RC] Bits - for those of you who love your horse, read. - I didn't start this thread! - Chris Paus

Nat, this is the kind of language that gets things started:

when I thought about what I was reading I was
horrified.

which was followed up with this:  This website has articles on bits, read and consider
if you care about your animal at all. Bits cause
problems that I never even thought about... And it
makes sense.
leading many readers to believe that your point was if you care about your animal, you will go bitless. That may not be what you meant, but that's the way it came across to me.

I'm horrified that it appears that I started this
thread! I responded NOT in favor of bitless bridles
for all horses! The original post didn't roll over to
this weeks archives, evidently mine did.

At any rate my horse may work in a sidepull but I
prefer to ride in a bit as I will have it when I need
it! Like I posted before I've ridden in snaffles to
full spades and every bit is only as severe as the
hands at the end of the reins.

Below is a copy of the original post. . .

I found article on all the cons about using the bit,
when I thought about what I was reading I was
horrified.
