RE: [RC] Which horse to buy? - StephTeeter

For a multiday horse, my priorities would be:

good straight legs, plenty of substance/bone
good feet - (well shaped, good size, good hoof quality, thick walls )
good back - really important for MD horses - lots of hours in the saddle
good mind (not too nervous)- travelling well, eating/drinking well are
important

I don't think breed is too important unless you want to be competitive
timewise.

I do think that it is very important to find a horse with the above
qualities, so you both have a good chance at success.

Steph

Subject: [RC] Which horse to buy?

Hi all, looking for advice:

I am shopping for a multi-day horse. I have been looking at arabs and 1/2
arabs, but SO really wants me to get a mustang which I am not opposed to. I
also secretly harbor an attraction to mules. I know that either of these
can make a very good endurance competitor, but have no experience w/ either.
So, I would like to hear from all those that do as I make my decision on
which horse to buy.

I do NOT want this turning into another useless debate, so please if you
don't have anything nice to say, send your comments privately or keep them
to yourself.

thanks,
melanie
