[RC] Sacroiliac joint subluxation? - k s swigart

Cindy said:

Please forgive me, Steph, for heading us off again!
Here's a bone...I'm reading a fascinating article about
rear end horse lameness due to problems in the sacroliliac
joint. Does any one know if there's any research-based
treatment for this, other than pain medications?

If the problem with the sacroiliac joint is (sub)luxation (a not
uncommon injury in horses, BTW, especially jumpers, which is why it is
sometimes called "hunter bump"), everything that I have read and/or
heard about it says that the recommended treatment is total stall rest.
The Horse had a pretty good article about it a couple of years ago that
explained some of its causes and symptoms.
