Comparing Spanish Mustangs to BLM mustangs is like comparing Arabians to Thoroughbreds or Morgans or Quarter Horses, etc. The Spanish Mustang is a breed. BLM and "other" mustangs also do really well in endurance but they aren't the same breed as Spanish Mustangs. A bit ago, there was discussion among SM owners about changing the breed name to Colonial Spanish Horse to lessen the confusion between Spanish Mustang and Mustang. Hasn't happened yet, obviously.
