Re: [RC] New Horse & 2 25 milers back to back weeks - heidi

Hi,

I have a conditioning concern, please help. I have a new-to-me 8 YO
horse since the 2nd week of January 2005. He has been out on a ranch,
unridden since last summer & now not much exercise as it was all snow at
the ranch.

So, I am riding 3x a week, 5 miles, 4.5 MPH doing LSD on rocky ground,
foothills riding.

Due to lack of having a horse, I have missed 90% of the ride season in
my state (AZ), which the end of it, last 2 rides in AZ, is coming in
March.

I'd like to do the Old Pueblo 25 miler, & then a 25 mile NATRC ride a
week later.

Is this too much to ask by then? I only want to go for completion & ride
so I am the last one in.

Stay with your 3x per week schedule. Start making one ride longer each
week. By the time the rides roll around, the two 25-milers should just be
that week's longer rides. :-) Sounds quite doable to me.

Heidi
