Re: [RC] President's Cup entry - John Teeter

Yes, Barry sent Kann Sam Count along for Jeremy to ride. I guess it
was a pretty arduous trip over. lots of wait time + the air
time. Jeremy flew with Kann Sam Count. Heather should arrive today
(and I don't know if Barry is coming or not - I'll ask). Becky Spencer
will ride Bob Edward's mare Oritos Sonny (and Bob is having a great
time here I think!:) - he's a pretty competitive guy!

(the list of invited riders is at:

Also new today is background on the French riders. They will be competing
on horses which they have stabled here for competition this season. It will
be interesting to see the advantage of this approach.

more later, we're headed out to the quarantine barns today to see
everyone. It's a little spread out. There are 9 of the 3 bedroom
chalets out at the village. The US has three of them, Australia has 2
- and I'm not sure what's up with the others. Italy, France, Spain,
Portugal, UK, Germany are staying here at the Hotel and driving
back/forth (45 min commute). We (steph and I) opted out of the disco
night last evening (with Fr, Sp, Portugal). They were headed out at
10:00pm -- I was headed to bed -- the energy of youth (and the
incredible Robert Pastor of France!!) - I think we will beat them to
the stables today --

I put up some images of the Al Reef Stables trainers out on a 10
mile loop.

They cantered the whole thing at a pretty good clip (@20km/hr). It was
a pretty good contrast with the more cautious approach of the everyone
else. There is certainly a need to acclimate to such conditions. But
watching the training, it's also pretty clear that the optimum
performance of these animals has not yet been achieved, as they are
working against the riders most of the time.

(p.s. steph, who will write more later I'm sure, went riding yesterday
near the Dubai ride site. I guess they actually water the trail there
every other day to keep the footing in good shape. Nice water trucks
here I'll have to admit:)

I was looking at the invited list of riders to the President's Cup and noticed
this entry:
Jeremy Reynolds Kann Sam Count joint winner of the Tevis Cup 2004.
Now I know that Jeremy didn't ride Sam at Tevis. Did Barry let him take Sam
to Dubai for some reason? or is this a mistaken list?
Just curious.
