[RC] - Nik Isahak Abdullah

Doc,what Steve Shaw described in the ridecamp w.r.t. Beverly's horse convulsing is a probable "over heating problem resulting in meningeal and cerebral irritation"
I was working in Saudi Arabia 20 years back looking after Malaysian pilgrims in Mecca. It was a particularly hot summer month at that time with temperatures beyond 50 degrees centigrade{around 100 fahrenheit} . We have cases of heat stroke coming in by the minutes even in the wee hours of morning. The pilgrims present with generalised convulsions and responded well to continuous hosing with cool water and only occasionally need intravenous anti convulsants.Almost a 100 % recovered totally with no long term residual neurological deficits. Some very tough people of Afghan's origin that strayed into our desert hospital in Arafah even were able to walk home immediately after the water hosing!
Beverly's horse has excellent prognosis and this pair will be able to compete again once the "emotional overload"wears off.My 2 cent worth.
