Re: [RC] Christmas Gifts - Claire Nystrom

I got a pair of the flexible stirrups from State Line Tack. The kind
with the grey rubber on the side. I want to try them out on my saddle
today. I have a Sensation pad, so it does not have the bars that the
stirrup leathers can slide off of in case of an emergency. Instead,
the leathers go through rings. I am wondering if these are safe
enough on their own without toestoppers (cages that go on English
stirrups so one's foot won't get caught) or if I should get the
toestoppers before I use them. I currently ride with Icelandic safety
stirrups, but have ridden in flexible stirrups on other saddles and
they're way more comfortable. I've never gotten my foot caught in the
stirrup but am ultra-paranoid about it, so am just wondering if
anybody uses these, and if they are safe enough that my foot
definitely wouldn't get caught.

Thanks & Merry Christmas,
Carol
