==========================================

I might be able to answer some questions on the Argentine Horse Breeding and
Type or can get some answers for you. I ride a Stallion from Argentina . I am a
rider not a breeder, so this is my observation only, I am not an expert, but my
friend is and can rattle of bloodlines and imports from Argentina, it all makes
my head spin, all I know for fact is they are easy horses to ride. My friend
ownes him, the stallion, and breeds horses of the Argentine type, she has
imported a Stud and a Mare from Argentina and makes regular trips to Argentina
to study and evaluate horses so that she may keep the same type in her program.
Her Argentine Horses are Mostly Crabbet with a Bibars ( Polish ) line. The
Arab Horses in Argentina, many which came to be there from people fleeing the
Nazis during World War Two in order to save the horses are bred to do
something, work cattle, travel to the next ranch miles away etc. They have very
long legs and short backs, also thick boned legs with large round feet, they do
move like Gazels, I would compare them to a type of Arabian horse bred in the
Us around 1950 to 1970, then some of the US breeders took a different Path.
But the Americans have been down in Argentina, and Brazil, trying to change
things, most notably, the Boggs with Padron ( big halter guys in the show ring
for you non show folk, they also have a nasty reputation for cosmetic
alteration on horses to get that winners look) and other US halter Blood. I
imagine the Argentine riders are riding the Argentine working type Arabs, long
legs short backs with a typy head, large eyes and big nostrils. This type of
horse can be found in Crabbet line in the US you just have to shop around,
there are a few breeders in the US who import from Argentina and beed the
Argentina Arab, its cheaper to buy there horses, than to import your own.
I think the Argentine riders will show us some of the fine breeding that they
have at the Pan Am games in April , I will be cheering for the USA and
Argentina.
