Re: [RC] Where do folks ride - Magnumsmom

Here... this is where I ride.

http://www.cerrilloshills.org/

The entrances to this park are less than a mile from my house so I
just ride off my property.  However, there is a lot more development
in the area.  We should be able to keep access to the park open though.
The lady 2nd from the left is our neighbor Claire Fulenwider.  She was
and is very instrumental in the creation and expansion of this park.
Fortunately, they had started on this idea before we bought our house
and property (10 acres of beautiful rocky arroyos)

It took HUGE sacrifice to make the move from the Silicon Valley in CA
(with "affordable" board approaching $400 / mo per horse) to Santa Fe,
NM.  3.5 years later it is totally worth it, but we are still on the edge
financially.  I have my horses on my own property, and I have a good job,
but I am still working a 2nd job to help make ends meet.  I don't have a
horse trailer right now, but I am hoping to afford a $2-3K used bumper
pull later this year (maybe... if the 2nd job holds out).  I already have my
truck, but if I hadn't bought it before we left CA, I wouldn't have ever
bought it... maybe I'd have a used one... probably not.   We damn near
lost everything making this move (and we still might), but the changes
were made so that we could have the quality of life.  And we wake up
and walk outside and say "Damn, we love it here".

I've done on average 1 or 2 rides a year since we moved, but I'm really
hoping to make 4 or more this year!!  (I say that every year...)

Of course we could get squashed by a drunk driver any day... there are
drawbacks to NM.  But in CA we about got slammed by another driver
every darn day... so I guess it's a trade off.
