Re: [RC] The February Debate - Maryanne Gabbani

That's true, but I'd figure that I'd give you all a head's up so that you can finish frying whatever fat you have to fry before the weather turns decent and you actually have to ride. <G>

As for -20 weather...I lived in Ontario, Canada before I moved here...Waterloo and then Toronto...so I do know what you mean. My husband's business trips to Egypt always started around October and ended about May until I told him that I had shoveled enough snow and was coming to Egypt with the kids. Why do you think I live here?

Just to further piss everyone off, its about upper 60's daytime and lower 50's at night these days, brilliant sunshine. We were supposed to be having an LD ride here on Friday morning with a catered brunch on a groomed lawn at an Arab stud farm at the edge of the desert. I usually am a vet check Nazi at these things to help train people on how to get their horses ready, but this time I'd planned to take a couple of my horses and ride with a 14 yr old junior who rides with her mother and I twice a week. Pauline is Belgian and wants to see what endurance is about. (My horses have to earn their keep working as a high class hack string, poor babies. But it keeps them in carrots and I always go out with them to maintain order) Unfortunately, our host's father in law just died and the ride was cancelled, so I think I'll try to get some neighbours to pack lunches and ride with me to the lake at Dahshur. We go past all the pyramids, the sarcophagus where you turn right to cross the railway tracks and maybe back through the countryside. Some of the horses have shoes, some don't. Whatever works.

Eat your hearts out.

<x-tad-smaller>[RC] ? The February Debate</x-tad-smaller>
<x-tad-smaller>>>>About every February when lots of people on the list are getting really</x-tad-smaller>
<x-tad-smaller> fed up with rain and snow and no/little riding, topics come up and people</x-tad-smaller>
<x-tad-smaller> get testy. I think that it's an internet version of cabin fever. <snip> So</x-tad-smaller>
<x-tad-smaller> everyone needs to just chill a bit (although maybe chill is part of the</x-tad-smaller>
<x-tad-smaller> cabin fever problem) and relax about things.<<<</x-tad-smaller>

<x-tad-smaller> But Maryanne, we have not got into helmets, bashing LD riders, feeding beet</x-tad-smaller>
<x-tad-smaller> pulp dry, and the fact Arabians are the very best (and only) breed for the</x-tad-smaller>
<x-tad-smaller> sport. Oh, wait, and let's not forget Sportsaddles and bitless bridles!</x-tad-smaller>
<x-tad-smaller> Shoot, Winter is how much longer? We better get cracking on these</x-tad-smaller>
<x-tad-smaller> discussions! ?;-)</x-tad-smaller>
