Re: [RC] Rice Bran - Karen Sullivan

I missed first part of this discussion, just caught this comment, pertinent since Kathy is in Grass Valley.....

Bar Ale in Williams makes a Rice Bran pellet.  I have been using it for several years for a hard keeper mare and very
much like it. Even though it is not sold as "stabilized", I did talk to their nutritionalist who said the very high temps used to prepare and form the pellet effectively stabllized the fat in the pellet, or something to that effect. I have never found it to smell bad or rancid. It sells for $6.35 a bag, which is a great price. I can possibly scare up a tag if you want exact percentages.....

I much perfer it to loose rice bran, which gets gummy when wet and is messy, etc.

Subject: [RC] Rice Bran

Kathy,
Do you know or can you find out what company makes the pelleted rice bran? Let us know how your horse does with it.
Thanks,
Kathy
