Re: [RC] 50's question - rdcarrie

I've done 50s (1 day, 50 miles) and back to back 25s (consecutive days, 25 miles per day).  The back to back 25s are easier (you're only riding half as far, and get done earlier in the day), but doing 25s two days in a row is not considered a 50.  If you want to "do a 50," you need to do the 1-day 50 mile ride.  If you just want to "ride 50 miles," then either back to back LDs or a 50 will meet that goal. Personally, I'd go for doing a 50 (1 day) - the personal satisfaction and feeling of accomplishment I get from completing a 50 is way more than I'd get from doing 2,3, or more LDs on consecutive days.  And I learned a lot more doing the 50 than multiple 25s.

Subject: [RC] 50's question

hey ya'll, I want to do a 50 in February at the PowWow, and I'm wondering which one is... AHEM.... "easier"???       A one day 50....or A 2 day 25????
I think the 2 day, but my friends (who haven't done one either) think a 1 day....
I would love some input, because I want to prepare as best I can.

Thanks ahead of time!!
