Re: [RC] Let's talk endurance goals for '06 - Linda S. Flemmer

I have had one too many horses go over & land on me now, severely damaging my hips.  While it is too painful to even get in the saddle astride anymore, I've found that I CAN ride SIDESADDLE.

My 11 year old gelding is certainly up for a 50, but I'm not.  Riding aside (sidesaddle) is using a whole 'nuther set of muscles...  I've got a good western sideaddle (antique Goodnight) that fits him and me pretty darned well.  I've managed to trail ride in the sidesaddle this Fall on some rough mountain trails in WV and even stayed on when we shied & ran from a bear.  (PLEEEEAASE don't dump me, Razz...)

My goals:

Get our LQ trailer this Spring (no more tent camping)
Ride at least 2 LD's aside - to see how everything works out aside
Crew for my husband

The Question of the Day: What are your goals for '06, and how are you going to obtain them?

My answer:  I am planning on doing at least five 100 milers on Equal Terms this coming season
