[RC] starting 50s vs LD - WRSINOSKY

Thank you so much, Truman!  During all the griping about LD vs "Real" Endurance, which gets very, very old in a very short time, I always manage to learn something.  Your manner of training your horses is fantastic and I agree heartily with the methods.

I guess I kind of fall into your category.  I say "kind of", since I have never actually "trained" horses for endurance.  I just ride all the time and when Doimas was born, decided right then and there that I was going to take up endurance riding.  I started exercising him from the age of a month or two by ponying him with his mom. After he was old enough to ride, we started riding every other day.

Being new to the sport in Jan. '04, I decided 25's sounded like alot of miles and opted to try it. Had a marvelous time and so did Doimas.  I figured on doing the first year LD's, then maybe try a 50. Then Doimas got the abscess and the rest is history.

Thank you again for such an insightful approach to your training methods. I really appreciate your thoughts and comments.
