If I am not mistaken, if you write a bad check at an AHA event, your name is not only published, but you are barred from entering any other AHA sanctioned event, and denied membership privileges until your problem is corrected.  Pretty harsh, but to write a check (promise of payment), then participate in the event, and not "make the check good", is no different than stealing.

Writing bad checks is just not  acceptable........................Maryben
 
Some of the breed organizations publish the names of people who give bad checks at shows.  Maybe it's something AERC could do for ride managers.
