Re: [RC] Dr Ribley and BC's for LD's - Chris Paus

Dr Ribley is NOT opposed to giving a Best Condition award at the LD
rides.  What Dr Ribley is opposed to, as am I and many others in the Endurance
community, is having a Top Ten finish be THE #1 CRITERION for receiving a Best Condition award as well as the use of riding time, ie SPEED, as one of the criteria for this award.

Yeah!!!!! I've been saying this for years! AERC preaches "no racing" on LDs, but rewards the fastest rider with a lot of points toward BC. Speed gives the rider a lot more of an edge toward BC than does rider weight. To even stand for BC, one must be in the top 10. I have top tenned riding slowly, but a 4:30 finish has no chance against a 2:30 finish for Bc even if the slower horse carried a heavy rider and had the best vet score.

If AERC wants to put its money where its mouth is on the subject of LD racing, it will not reward racing in LD!
