[RC] Pigs & Endurance - rides2far

they would explode from the brush squealing as they ran.

The pot bellied pig at my neighbor's place burrows under a big pile of
hay...and then yes, *explode* is the perfect description of how it comes
out if you walk by too close. FAR more exciting than a woman popping out
of a cake! If any of you have read the book by Beryl Markham West With
the Night, or maybe it was in her biography, she talks about her youth
in Africa hunting with native friends. The wild pigs would burst from a
pile of leaves and the natives would jump STRAIGHT UP to keep their legs
from getting slashed, then drive a spear downwards. She claimed some
could jump their own height...and that she almost could. I guess slashing
pig tusks could do a lot for you motivation to develop a vertical jump.
By the way, Beryl was a great race horse trainer (her secret was to get
many hired workers to walk the trail daily and remove all stones) and the
first woman to fly a plane across the Atlantic in that direction. It's a
good book.
