RE: [RC] Junior - heidi

Heidi--
"As a woman bonds with a horse,
    Attempts to understand and interpret....
She is nurturing, facing her fears, and
        Moving beyond boundaries.
         Essential lessons in any relationship.
Then, in this new, quiet communication
      Of touch and thought,
        Intuition and expression........
She finds, as last, her Self." ----Kim McElroy from
 "Horse Women"

And the sun comes up again tommorrow.

Bruce, thanks for sharing that lovely poem. Indeed, it is the Self that
one finds when one invests love and time in horses that makes it so
hard--a small part of Self dies along with them. But I am so fortunate
to have a bit of him still out in the pasture, too, in his children and
grandchildren.

The eeriest thing happened late this morning. We took him up on the
hill after putting him down, and about an hour later, I looked up in
the pasture--there, along the fence, were his two daughters (one a
yearling and one a broodmatron with colt at side), his two
granddaughters, and the daughter of his 3/4 sister, standing along the
fence, hanging their heads over looking off in the direction that he
had gone. None of the other mares had joined them. This was not a
usual social grouping for them. I've seen some interesting
interactions with related horses before--but this is about the eeriest.

Heidi
