[RC] crupper instructions - lisa oberteuffer

it's always a good idea to try lunging a horse when introducing a crupper--then you can see what type of bucks you're going to get when you start riding :)

but really--make your pony trot and canter a bit until he gets used to the crupper. he'll figure it out. but also make sure it's comfortable. round seamless ones seem to be the best. that's a sensitive area, you know :) I recommend the ones zilco makes--not cheap, but really really nice.

as to fit, I was told: you should be able to fit your hand vertically under the crupper, over the croup (ie, about 4 inches of slack) when saddled and girthed but before mounting.
