==========================================

my wife's brother bud and a friend of mine vance flew from north carolina to
rapid city, south dakota and met up with bob lantis of gunsel horse adventures.
bob lives in rapid city and does alot of trekes into yellowstone. he has done
the buffalo roundup in south dakota for 35 years. at the age of 71 you would
think he was 31 !!! no kidding. this man is a legend around custer state park
and rightfully so. we camped and rode with bob for four days. he is the rider
boss of the bufflo roundup. out of approximately 60 riders there were 10
members in his family that were riders in the roundup. all were well deserved
of this honor. there is alot of heritage to riding in this event. i have put
into a lottery to be drawn out for 5 years and have not been drawn out yet. i
went as a paying participant with bob and recieved special riding priviledges
on the fringes of this event due to bob's influences. i felt honored to be
where i was and was riding with the governor of south dakota special guest
riders. after witnessing the honor that the selected riders feel for being able
to ride in this south dakota event and the desire and dissapointment of the
south dakota people that were not drawn to ride, i was grateful to just have a
chance. i felt selfish in a way. BUT, after visiting with the governor he
advised me that this was a big economic and development event for their state.
the governor, michael mounds has the highest approval rating of any governor in
the U.S. i will continue in part three if anyone is interested. mike
