And some people have found they have to modify the hi ties or their horses will pull hard and get loose too easily. A friend of mine had her 2 get loose the night after a 50 and they were running in the forest with their leg wraps & blankets all night and most of the day. Fortunately they were found mostly unharmed. There are people probably on this list who can tell you how they have modified them so they cannot break free easily.

For people that tie to a trailer or use one of the Hi Tie systems, if it is possible for your horse to roll, please be sure you have covered up the wheel well some way.  I saw a horse roll while tied to a trailer, get a rear foot caught up between the wheel and the fender. It took four people to get his leg out and the damage was permanent.   Julie Suhr
