Re: [RC] WEC Criteria (Pulse, etc.) - Truman Prevatt

Given the time they were running I suspect they were down in a matter of a few minutes. The horses that are running this fast are conditioned to have fast recoveries. Running this fast you can't afford to waste any time waiting for recoveries.

The winners were good horses that were peaked to perfection for the race that particular day. That is the name of the game at that level. It's not the game many AERC riders are that comfortable with - however, it is how endurance has evolved on the world scene at the championship level. It's the game we (US) is going to have to learn to play if we want to be competitive.

The question is does the rank and file of the AERC membership want to support what has to be done to make the US competitive (if it can even be done) at the WEC again?

Does anyone know what "criteria" at the WEC was?
Solution to what happened there (maybe)....lower pulse criteria to 56 to bet met in twenty minutes. It would be equitable and the horses probably would agree with it.
