Stagg And this is the same dilemma for the American Olympic hopeful athletes when many of the other countries (such as China and Russia) pay for the training and housing of their Olympic hopefuls from when they are barely out of diapers throughout their career. We, as American endurance riders face the same challenges of pursuing the dream of Gold in International circles. BTW, I seem to remember reading the French enter into an agreement with their Federation to not sell their horse (until after race day) if elected to the intial team. It appears they had a huge problem with selecting horse and riders and the horses were then sold...thus the stipulation.
