[RC] Commpletion Rate - WEC Compared with AERC National 100 and Tevis - Jonni

Stagg posted : >>>WEC completion rate was 36%. This is not that much
different from the completion rates at several of the recent Tevis rides and
AERC National Championships. <<<<

But I thought the WEC was THE (can I make that even a bigger font) very best
horses in the world. Each country picked the horses and riders who they
thought were the very, very best they had to represent them.

Any rider with 150 endurance (or competitive) miles can enter Tevis (and
they do). Passed some on the trail last year that I was wondering how they
managed to get as far as they had, as they sure were not what I would expect
to see out on that very tough ride.

And for the National Championship:
1) Horse and rider team must have a lifetime total of 300 endurance
miles.(50+ mile distances) and
2) Horse and rider team must have one top five finishing in their weight
division in the chosen distance at one endurance ride
OR
Horse and rider team with a lifetime total of 1000 miles makes them
automatically qualified in either distance.

That is really not that much to qualify for the ride. We are NOT seeing the
very best of the horses that AERC has to offer entering the AERC National
Championship each year. They are good horses, but not the very best. I don't
believe any of the horses that went to the WEC were at the National
Championship 100 last year.

For a ride that was to be the ultimate world endurance CHAMPIONSHIP, the
completion rate does seem low.
