Re: [RC] Improving/evolving WEC - Truman Prevatt

It's not our choice - it's the FEI's choice and I suspect many countires are very happy with the current format. The current format not only crowns the world champion - it test the progarm of each country. Ours hasn't faired very well in the past 3 WECs. There have been sub 8 hour 100's in the AERC from time to time, but they aren't common. Today they are common at this level. The UAE, French, Aussies have raised the bar on the sport at this level. Our 100's may have gotten a little faster but we are being left behind at the top of the sport.

Quite frankly I am in awe of any horse that can do a sub 8 hour 100. My hat is off to the horse, trainer and rider. We've basically been passed by in the sport we invented. If we want to be more than "also rans" someone better figure out how to reverse this trend.

So anybody else get inspirations on how to improve the competetion?hhhmmmm?
Went to bed at 3:19 ET when feed died again-- my computer geek son Ellery, wants to go to UAE to improve thir web casts >g< :0)

Competition seems too ---sterile---formula---- Fittest fastest horse on that day wins--- almost ho-hum--- just a looooonger flat track racing sport------Where those who can pay for the best win--- only variable you can't buy it seems is ----freak injury or miscalculating how close you can ride to lameness....Where modest owners find the cost too high in horseflesh...

I was thinking this morning ,(after waking from dreams I was in the desert --real dreams-- into reality...)--" Endurance test"," endurance test"-- not "race, race"--Race is 'throway horses".

Test, are studious, challenging, take intelligence, stratagy, partnership, techniques to refine, where there is more challenge and more variblesing field.
Maybe it is too late. Maybe a new sport nees to break off, or a new arem or divide--Similiar to 3 day eventing---3 day -- Multiday--- now that takes more stategy, a truly more enduring horse and rider---- Maybe a "MultidayWEC" -----
More Chess than checkers......
