[RC] WEC: thoughts during the day ... - John Teeter

Just happened to 1) watch a few minutes of the live tv cast. HRH
Princess Haya - riding for Jordan. Zaafarn is a truly beautiful animal
- cantering along (averaging 22km/hr on loop 3) with easy grace. It
looks like that horse could go forever at that pace (of course looks
via tv can be deceiving). She looked a bit tired, but she's halfway
through a 160km race with a mount that is still, although obviously
very well trained, making her work at keeping him paced....

2) As would be expected, the ave pace of the top ten is 21+km/hr on
loop 3. They held them back the first loop, let it loose a bit on loop
2 etc. the ride is increasing in pace (@2km/hr) over the first
90km. They are at out on loop 4 now (so they've done @100km - 60km to
go). It's 12:30 here. If they keep this pace, we're looking at a
finish of about 4:00-4:30 local time - and a ride time in the 7-8 hour
range (lot's can happen though).

I should point out, the top 20 are all clicking along at a 20+km/hr
pace. and the top 30 are at 19+km/hr. The out times of Peter Toff
(19th) and Sh Hazza (1st place) was 10 minutes leaving gate 3 ... it's
the proverbial horse race:)

images of steph and team Argentina (with Shieka Madiya driving the chase car!!)

running
in 17th place!:)
