Re: [RC] Trailers/Living Quarters - Lucinda Carpe

I recently spoke with a trailer dealer in Ramona, Ca. I told her my little Logan Cimmaron weighs about 2400 pounds. she said I am sure it weighs in more then that because the trailer companies weigh them before mats and other add ons. She thought it probably weighs in over 3000. Of course that is critical for those of us with 1/2 ton trucks. I plan to get a one ton next time and for now take it easy with my suburban and never haul more then my little Arab.

A friend of mine in So Cal custom ordered a Merhow about 7 years ago. The tag on it said 8500 pounds empty. Her husband scaled it a month later when she was having trouble pulling it. It scaled empty at 11,560#. Merhow was full of BS answers about how they "weigh" their products. Be aware of this if weight is an issue for you with your tow vehicle. She wasn't amused, and she had to drive to Texas to pick it up. Something about dealers not in her area.
